Heinz, the iconic ketchup producer, is introducing an innovative solution to a problem troubling visitors of restaurants and cafés. Some establishments, after emptying an original Heinz ketchup bottle, refill it with cheaper products from other brands, misleading their guests.
The new Heinz bottle design features a special sticker whose edge perfectly matches the color of original Heinz ketchup. This clever detail allows customers to easily verify whether the bottle truly contains Heinz ketchup. If the ketchup color matches the sticker edge, it’s genuine Heinz. If not, it’s an imitation.
News of this measure quickly spread across social media, sparking lively debate. Some users claim they can tell the difference between Heinz ketchup and other brands by taste, while others point out potential risks of this practice, especially concerning allergens that may be present in other products.
This is not the first time Heinz has addressed “ketchup fraud.” The company previously launched a campaign on this issue, including billboards and ads in Chicago and New York with the slogan “ketchup fraud.”
Megan Lang, Heinz’s Global Head of Communications and Creativity, said: “By monitoring social media, we found that this phenomenon is indeed widespread. We decided to support our customers’ behavior in a fun and practical way, which reflects our philosophy ‘It Has to Be Heinz’.”
This innovative step by Heinz not only protects its brand but also helps consumers make informed decisions about what they consume in restaurants and cafés.
